The Dog Behind the Brand

Before Marsh Puppies became a brand, it was a black Lab named Morris. Growing up in the Lowcountry, I spent some of my favorite moments outdoors. I ran through the yard at my grandparents’ house, explored the marsh, and came home covered in pluff mud. During many of those adventures, Morris was right there with us. Like most Labs, he was happiest outdoors. Whether he was chasing a tennis ball, riding in a truck, or just lying in the grass watching the world go by, he didn’t need much to be happy. He reminded us to enjoy the simple things.

As the years went by, Morris became more than just a family dog. He became part of the memories that shaped my life and my ties to the Lowcountry. The marshes, the rivers, the salt air, and the loyal dog always waiting at the end of the day are all connected in my mind.

When the idea for Marsh Puppies came to me, I wanted the brand to mean more than just clothing. I wanted it to capture the lifestyle many of us grew up with—a life spent outdoors, appreciating our roots, and sharing it with the people and dogs we love. Morris may no longer be with us, but his spirit lives on in every design and every story that inspires this brand. This journal is dedicated to him—the dog behind the brand.
